Aleksandar Todorović
About
Aleksandar Todorović was born the same year as the vineyards he now tends, when his father planted them in 1995. Aleksandar spent his childhood amongst the vines, playing in the rows and even taking his first steps amongst the grapes. He and the vineyards grew together, so it is natural that Aleksandar’s love for viticulture and winemaking endured into his later years.
Aleksandar now tends those same 3 hectares of vineyards that his father planted, while raising two additional hectares of young vines that he planted himself in 2021. Located in the village of Lipovac, in Ražanj, the vineyards thrive in an area known for its nature and eco-friendly way of life, which the family embraces by farming organically and achieving ECO certification in 2023.
After school, Aleksandar attended college for Agrarian Studies in Zemun, where he studied fruit cultivation and winemaking, with a focus on sustainable farming. It was then that his passion of youth became his life calling. His first official harvest was in 2017, when his father, Slaviša, decided to pass the reins to his son at the ripe age of 22.
As a young winemaker, Aleksandar is driven to continue to learn, grow, and innovate in his craft. He is part of a small group of young, new-wave winemakers in Serbia, dedicated to making wines as naturally as possible. Utilizing minimal intervention in the cellar, with minimal-to-no sulfur usage, and often employing biodynamic principles in his winemaking, his goal is to let nature drive the results, showcasing the truest expressions of the indigenous grape varieties he grows in the region: Tamjanika, Grašac, Župljanka, and Prokupac.
While still at such a young age, Aleksandar has achieved so much. When experiencing his wines, it is an undeniable realization that the future is very bright.
