Venje Decanter Magazine Champion in white blended wine under £10 category A barrique-nurtured blend of Riesling, Traminac, Pinot Gris, Welschriesling and Sauvignon Blanc, Venje (1998) was selected by Decanter magazine from several thousand wines from every wine-producing country and pronounced overall champion in the category “white blended wine under £10.” This fascinating, medium-bodied wine has aromas of white fruit, joined by a slightly oily, mineral quality on the palate. The oak influence is very subtle, with only a touch of the oxidative flavor that is sought with barrique maturation. This sophisticated white is produced only in ideal years.
